As a high-growth company that embraces an entrepreneurial approach, we’re seeking a Geospatial CAD Technician to help plot our next moves forward in the telecom, EV charging station, and renewables spaces. Ideal candidate can deftly translate collected field data into a highly accurate, quickly accessible digital underground that ensures safety while expediting project completion.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- 2+ years of experience in Geospatial CAD drafting, utility mapping, or technical CAD design.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, or other industry-standard CAD software.
- Familiarity with GIS applications (ArcGIS, QGIS) and geospatial data analysis.
- Experience working with utility maps, as-builts, and underground infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of utility locating methods, including ground-penetrating radar (GPR), electromagnetic detection, and GPS surveying.
- Ability to interpret and integrate data from field survey teams.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot unexpected challenges on the fly — collaborating with utility team members and partners to minimize damage and delays.
- Excellent attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and safety.
- Knowledge of industry regulations, including One Call laws, OSHA guidelines, and local utility marking standards.
- Experience working in telecom, renewable energy, or civil engineering projects is a plus.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create, update and refine CAD drawings of underground utility networks, integrating data from field locates, GIS, and survey teams.
- Analyze geospatial data and assist in the development of accurate utility maps and 3D models.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure CAD files reflect real-world conditions.
- Interpret and integrate utility records, as-builts, and engineering plans into detailed CAD drawings.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards for mapping, drafting, and geospatial data accuracy.
- Maintain and organize digital CAD and GIS files, ensuring easy access and version control.
- Support proposal and project planning efforts by providing geospatial insights and technical drawings.
- Assist in troubleshooting data discrepancies and resolving technical issues related to utility mapping.
- Stay up to date on emerging CAD and GIS technologies to improve efficiency and accuracy.
